What a casino inactivity fee is
Inactive, dormant, and the monthly charge.
Not using your account for a certain period of time can result in that money being charged. Casinos call that kind of account an inactive or dormant account. Inactive and dormant accounts mean the same thing. The money is charged the account fee.
Three things determine the account charge. The first is how long the account can’t be used. The second is how much the fee is. The last is if the casino can close the account and not let you have the rest.
Which crypto casinos charge inactivity fees
The dormancy rule at each casino, from its terms.
| Casino | Quiet for | What the terms allow |
|---|---|---|
| Thrill | 12 months | 5% of the balance a month; under $5, all of it |
| Bets.io | 180 days without a login | $10 a month; after a year, closure and confiscation if a refund fails |
| BitStarz | 6 months without a login | At least €5 a month, about ₦7,560 |
| Roobet | 6 months without a login | May close accounts with a zero balance; no fee listed |
| Cloudbet | 12 months | May suspend; support reactivates; no fee listed |
| 22Bet | 3 months | Account blocked; the Security Service unblocks it |
| 1xBet | 3 months | May block; the security team unblocks it |
| Betwinner | 3 months | Account blocked; the Security Service unblocks it |
Thrill added its fee to the terms on 16 September 2026, and it is the steepest here because it grows with your balance. 22Bet, 1xBet and Betwinner block a quiet account sooner than anyone, but their terms list no fee, so the money waits until you contact support. Winna's terms have no dormancy clause, and Bitguruz only says to contact support if a dormant account needs a withdrawal.
What a dormant account fee costs in naira
A forgotten ₦50,000 balance, after 12 months of fees.
- Thrill: 5% of what is left, each month₦27,018 left
- Bets.io: three $10 fees, then the balance cannot cover a fourth₦10,219 left
- BitStarz: €5 a month at the minimum, until zero₦0 left
Our arithmetic at CoinGecko rates on 25 September 2026: $1 is about ₦1,326 and €1 about ₦1,512. The fees start after each casino's own quiet period, so the 12 months begin at 6 months for BitStarz, 180 days for Bets.io and 12 months for Thrill. BitStarz's fee is "a minimum" of €5, so it can empty the account faster than this.
A dormant account for more than 1 year at Bets.io comes with a similar risk. If a refund fails, Bets.io is allowed to close the account and keep the funds.
How to avoid casino inactivity fees
Five habits that keep a quiet balance whole.
- Withdraw before a long break
Accounts with a zero balance can not be charged. So, fees described in this document, will not be charged.
- Log in before the deadline
The accounts at BitStarz, Bets.io and Roobet are charged after a period of in-activity from the last time the account was logged in to. Thrill's terms do not define inactivity, so do not rely on a login there.
- Keep your e-mail address current
BitStarz tells you by e-mail, Bets.io gives 30 days' notice, and Thrill says it will notify you. A dead inbox means no warning.
- Keep your KYC documents to hand
Thrill can ask for identity checks before it reactivates an account or pays out. Our crypto casino KYC guide lists what to prepare.
- Do not use a casino as a wallet
Cash out your casino funds to a cryptocurrency wallet or exchange. Use our guide to help you cash out and deposit to Nigerian banks.
We recommend you contact the Security departments at 22Bet, 1xBet or Betwinner to unblock your accounts, as described in their terms. The email addresses to contact are security@22bet.com, security-en@1xbet-team.com, and Betwinner’s Security Service via support.
What the law says
Since a Supreme Court ruling of 22 November 2024, each state licenses gambling within its borders. Crypto is legal and regulated by the SEC. A casino licensed abroad is not licensed by any Nigerian state, and our reviews say which kind each casino is.
Check before you play
Lagos law makes promoting unlicensed gaming an offence, and the Lagos authority publishes a list of operators it calls illegal; none of them appear on this site. Check that playing is lawful where you live. Our guide is crypto gambling legal in Nigeria explains the rules.
Casino inactivity fees: common questions
A casino charges this fee when a player hasn't logged into their account in a specific period of time. At Bitstarz and Bets.io, the fee is charged after 6 months and 180 days, respectively. At Thrill, the fee is charged after one year. The fee is removed if the account is logged into or the account balance is set to zero.
Withdraw your balance before a long break. An account with nothing in it has nothing to charge. If you leave money in, log in before the deadline, since BitStarz, Bets.io and Roobet count inactivity from your last login, and keep your e-mail address current so the warning reaches you.
The same thing under another name. Casinos call an account dormant once it passes their inactivity limit. Bets.io charges a $10 Dormant Account Fee each month, BitStarz at least 5 euros, and Thrill 5% of the balance.
Some terms allow it. Bets.io can close an account dormant for over a year and confiscate the balance if it cannot refund you, and Thrill can take the whole balance as its fee once it falls under $5. Withdrawing before you stop playing avoids both.
Taking a break from gambling
A good reason to empty the account first.
Stepping away is healthy, and a balance left behind can pull you back. Withdraw it, and if you want the break to hold, ask the casino to close or exclude your account.
